Bryan Thomas graduated from Architectural Association in 1950. Before organising his own practice in 1957, he had experienced working with David Stern, Wells Coates and Michael Lyell. With the knowledge and experience he gained over the years, Bryan Thomas successfully developed an array of local houses, many of which has been ameliorated to prepare for the 21st century. Some of his developments include Essex County Council Primary and Secondary Schools, Sheltered Housing for the West Mersea Trust, churches for the Christian Scientists, St Andrews Anglican Church and the Church Green Trust. House on the Heath was perhaps the most unforgettable building designed by Bryan Thomas in 1974. In 2013, he was awarded a commendation in the Sunday Times’ British Homes Award.
